Imagine 65,000 trees growing for ten years.

Imagine the carbon dioxide that these trees would absorb. Now imagine taking that much of CO2e out of dairy production.

We’re not imagining it. We’re making it real. Together with our partners, ICA Gruppen and Aarhus University, we are embarking on our project: Hybrid Dairy – CO2e reduction at scale

Funded by EIT Food, this 18-monthy initiative will accelerate the commercial adoption of hybrid dairy to cut emissions by 20-60% while maintaining the full taste, nutrition and functionality of traditional dairy.

Our shared mission is to bring affordable, nutritious and climate-friendly dairy to European consumers, starting in Sweden and the Nordics, through private label, branded and food manufacturing partnerships.

The outcomes will benefit multiple stakeholders:
Retailers: seeking sustainable dairy alternatives through branded and private label solutions
Food Manufacturers: incorporating dairy as an ingredients – especially pizza and ready meal makers
Consumers: desiring climate-friendly yet high-quality dairy options
Regulatory bodies: supporting transparent, verified CO2e claims via LCA studies

The project leverages each of our strengths:
PlanetDairy leads innovation and commercialisation of hybrid dairy at industrial scale.
ICA Gruppen contributes product and consumer insights to support the project’s development.
Aarhus University’s MAPP Centre conducts ground-breaking research on consumers attitudes, packaging and communications to ensure mass-market acceptance.

Together, we aim to achieve 3.9 million kg of CO2e reductions annually by 2028, helping move Europe’s food system towards its Green Deal and Farm-to-Fork goals.
