This month we are in the process of acquiring selected production equipment and technical know-how from Stockholm-based Stockeld Dreamery, following their decision to cease operations. This will boost our research and development capabilities and support our mission to deliver the full dairy experience with lower carbon emissions.
Founded in Stockholm as Noquo Foods, Stockeld Dreamery raised $20 million and launched a range of plant-based cream cheeses and sliced cheeses, available in around 500 outlets across the U.S. Despite early success, the broader plant-based category has seen declining demand in recent years. “We find that flexitarians are no longer focused on replacing dairy or meat—they’re happy with traditional dairy, which they find tasty, affordable, and healthy,” says Sorosh Tavakoli, Co-founder and CEO of Stockeld Dreamery.
“Our experience shows that consumers want great taste, nutrition, and functionality at a fair price,” says Jakob Skovgaard, our Founder and CEO. “Sustainability matters most to retailers, but consumers expect the same dairy experience with lower emissions. This acquisition allows us to combine Stockeld’s expertise with our own R&D to deliver just that.”
Stockeld’s product portfolio, based on legumes and fermentation, fits closely with our own innovation strategy and product development focus.
